It is our responsibility to reach out and create spaces where we feel comfortable with each other to voice our opinions and express ourselves, whether that is through art, music, dance or even poetry.
One ongoing collaboration involves Kingdom Cafe, a regular open mic for New Haven youth, at the Afro-American Cultural Center. Blue Haven and Kingdom Cafe Members are paired for their performances, encouraging partnerships between the two groups in order to deliver powerful expressive performances. Another project focuses on collaborating with local activists and the NAACP to voice our concerns and protest the injustices seen within our communities.
Overall, our aim is to cement institutional, as well as personal relationships, so that these collaborations are long-lasting and continue to expand.
